Funded Regional Outreach Project

We’re excited to announce that Anna McNamara, Director of Internationalisation at GSA, has been awarded a significant grant in order to collaborate with a range of regional theatres to deliver funded outreach workshops with the intention of raising the aspirations of disadvantaged young people. This nationwide inclusion project is designed to support school children and teachers, particularly those from backgrounds currently underrepresented in the creative industries training sector.

The workshops will take place in the middle of July and will be career-focussed, aiming to illustrate the viability of further study of the creative industries in Higher Education whilst also encouraging school engagement with local theatres.

Our fantastic Guildford School of Acting alumni are facilitating the practical sessions and will cover several different theatrical disciplines such as puppetry, set design, lighting, sound, devising and site-specific performance.

The project is being run in association with Get Into Theatre and the Federation of Drama Schools and the grant enables us to make this opportunity free for all involved, and so there is no cost to the schools, nor any drain on the theatre’s resources.
